Virtual Assistants Insurance Policies
Insurance Made Easy in conjunction with the Australian Virtual Assistants Association (AVAA) are able provide a competitive insurance offering for their members. With over 20 years’ experience in supporting small to medium businesses with their commercial insurance needs we are well positioned to support AVAA’s members with advice on Professional Indemnity, Public Liability and other commercial insurance requirements. We believe no other insurance broker in Australia is better suited to arranging insurance requirements for AVAA members ,simply because we understand the virtual assistant’s industry.
How Does Professional Indemnity Work?
Example: You did some work for a client in 2013, however it is not until 2016 that the client believes your work and advice has caused them a financial loss and they lodge a formal complaint with you. This is the date a claim may exist and this will be the date you need current Professional Indemnity Insurance even though the work occurred some 3 years previous.
This is why it is so important to continue to renew your insurance each year.
Major Features Include:
Major Insurer – Professional Risk Underwriting Pty Ltd & Lloyds, London

Run – Off Cover for one year. After you cease trading you remain covered with no further premium payments for one year.
Retroactive Cover – Covers you for all past work provided that you have had continuous Professional Indemnity Insurance
Breaches of Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and Related Legislation
Unintentional Libel / Slander Defamation
Public Liability Insurance protects your business for negligence which results in someone being injured or someone’s property being damaged. With society becoming more litigious, it is important that you can go about your day to day business activities with the security provided by this cover.
A simple example of a claim could be a client tripping over your laptop cable used by you when you are visiting their premises or when they are visiting your premises and suffering injuries resulting in them not being able to work for an indefinite period. As this is not a Professional advice claim (such as that which may fall under a professional indemnity coverage) you would need a Public Liability Insurance policy which covers the cost of the claim after negligence has been established, or, if no negligence is involved, provide cover for the legal defence costs.
